As an older person of a sexual minority you may have spent much of your life in a time when lesbians, gay men, bisexuals and trangendered people (LGBT people) were less visible than today. Despite changes to law and within society you may still face prejudice and possibly harassment, as well as ageism and age discrimination (topic). This may be combined with loneliness, ill-health and other issues faced by many older people. You may be wary of using services because of previous experience, and because so many services may assume that you are heterosexual. It is common for older LGBT people to have less support than other older people.
